Therapeutic education

Education that heals as it teaches.

Therapeutic education puts the child's emotional experience at the centre of every learning interaction. It is how we create the conditions for genuine, lasting progress.

When learning and healing go together

Many of the children we work with have had difficult experiences of education. Some have experienced trauma, loss, or significant disruption. Others have struggled in environments that could not accommodate their needs.

Therapeutic education acknowledges this. It recognises that before a child can truly learn, they need to feel safe, regulated, and connected to the person teaching them.

Our team is trained to hold this alongside their subject expertise — to be both educators and carers, without confusing the two. The result is a form of teaching that children often experience as transformative.

Felt safety

Our environments and team relationships are designed to create a genuine sense of safety — physical, emotional, and relational. Children settle because they feel at home.

Attunement

Our staff learn to recognise and respond to what a child is communicating, even when it is communicated through behaviour. This attunement builds trust over time.

Regulation before learning

A dysregulated child cannot learn effectively. We support regulation first — through co-regulation with a trusted adult — before academic engagement begins.
