Making a referral to Tuition Extra is straightforward. Here is exactly what to expect — and what we will need from you to get started.
How it works
Most referrals move from submission to an agreed placement within a few working days.

Complete our referral form
Complete our online referral form. You will be asked to include any relevant documentation such as EHCPs, reports, or previous provision records.

Our referrals team will respond
Our referrals team will respond within 3 working days to discuss the young person's needs, current situation, and what the placement would look like.

Information sharing
We will ask for any additional background documentation not already included in your referral — this typically includes existing reports, EHCPs, previous provision history, and details of other professionals involved. We handle all information securely and in line with GDPR.

Assessment and planning
We assess the young person's needs and put together a provisional placement plan. This may include a visit and/or a meet and greet session before a formal placement begins.

Ongoing review and annual reviews
We support with annual reviews throughout the placement, attending meetings and contributing written reports.

Schools can refer directly without going through the local authority for most provision types. Contact us to discuss your student's needs.
