The Thrive Approach

Understanding how children grow.

Family Thrive Outreach. Providing a six week programme for parents/carers to help them understand 'behaviour', giving them structured understanding of the neuroscience of development.

What is the Thrive Approach?

Thrive provides online individual Thrive Profiles that provide key strategies and activities for each student.

Thrive helps practitioners recognise when a child/young person is stuck or struggling at a particular developmental stage — and how to respond in ways that help them to move forward, rather than escalating or withdrawing.

THRIVE APPROACH: What you need to know

THRIVE APPROACH IS NOT an ADDITION — IT'S HOW YOU TEACH

Thrive Approach is a tool based on the neuroscience of development from 0–25 years. This is woven throughout all we do. The Thrive Approach sets the tone, the pacing, the relationship, the regulation, that makes learning possible.

What Thrive looks like in practice

Seeing the whole child

We look at emotional development alongside academic progress. Where a child is developmentally shapes how we approach every session.

Relationship first

Thrive holds that learning happens best within a relationship of trust. We invest time in getting to know each child before anything else.

Responding, not reacting

When a child shows distress or challenging behaviour, our team responds calmly and with understanding rather than reacting punitively.

Evidenced and reviewed

Thrive provides assessment tools that help us understand each child's emotional baseline and track their development over time.

Our Thrive Leader

Amanda Thompson is our Group Thrive Leader, responsible for overseeing Thrive practice across all Tuition Extra provision and ensuring every team member is trained and supported.

Amanda works with families across the sites in an outreach capacity, using Family Thrive.
