Making a referral to Tuition Extra is straightforward. Here is exactly what to expect — and what we will need from you to get started.

How it works

Most referrals move from initial contact to an agreed placement within a few working days.

Get in touch

Call us on 01227 935773 or email info@tuition-extra.co.uk with an outline of the young person's needs. At this stage, we just need enough to understand whether we are likely to be a good fit.

Initial conversation

One of our team will call you back, usually within one working day. We will discuss the young person's needs, current situation, and what the placement would look like. No forms at this stage.

Information sharing

We will ask for relevant background documentation — this typically includes any existing reports, EHCPs, previous provision, and details of any other professionals involved. We handle all information securely and in line with GDPR.

Assessment and planning

We assess the young person's needs and put together a provisional placement plan. For some children this includes a visit or taster session before a formal placement begins.

Placement begins

A start date is agreed. Reporting schedules and review dates are confirmed with the referring professional. Family contact arrangements are agreed at the same time.

Ongoing review

We review every placement at agreed intervals and produce written reports. We attend relevant meetings and remain in regular contact with the commissioning team or school throughout.

Schools can refer directly without going through the local authority for most provision types. Contact us to discuss your student's needs.

We are a KCC preferred SEND provider. For commissioned placements, use the KCC preferred provider channels or contact us directly.
